How a shop owner opts in to Motorsmith’s account and support text messages, with screenshots of the form, the exact wording they agree to, and what they receive.

1. The program

Program name: Motorsmith
Operated by: Cosmic Vista LLC
Sent from: +1 (469) 398-8377

Motorsmith is shop management software for independent auto repair shops. This program sends account and support text messages to shop owners and staff who created a Motorsmith account and opted in. It sends no marketing, and it does not text a shop’s customers. Verification codes for sign-in, sign-up and password reset are delivered by a separate verification service and are not part of this program.

2. Where shops opt in

Opt-in happens in one place: the Register form at https://app.usemotorsmith.com/sign-up, where a shop owner creates a Motorsmith account. The text-message checkbox sits directly under the mobile number field.

3. The checkbox, word for word

I agree to receive account and support text messages from Motorsmith at this number: onboarding, billing and renewal notices, and replies to questions I text in. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. Optional, not required to create an account. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

On the form, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are links to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, opening in a new tab.

  • The box is unticked by default. Nothing on the form ticks it for the shop.
  • It is optional. The account is created whether or not the box is ticked.
  • It is separate from the form’s own line about our Terms and Privacy Policy, which applies to every account.

4. What a shop receives

A shop that ticks the box receives account and support text messages:

  • a welcome message when its shop account is ready;
  • subscription renewal notices and failed-payment notices;
  • replies from our support team, sent only in answer to a text the shop sent us first.

Message frequency varies: a confirmation when you opt in, a few account notices in a typical month, and one reply per question you text us. Message and data rates may apply. The exact message bodies are on the SMS Program page.

5. Confirmation, STOP and HELP

When a shop opts in, it receives one confirmation message:

Motorsmith: You're subscribed to account and support texts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out; the shop gets one confirmation and no further texts. Reply HELP for help, or email info@usemotorsmith.com.

6. What we record

When a shop ticks the box, we record that it consented, the time of consent, the exact wording shown on the form, and the IP address the form was submitted from. A STOP is enforced by our messaging provider, which blocks any further text from this number to the phone that sent it.

7. Privacy of mobile numbers

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third party. A mobile number is used only to deliver the messages described on this page and is shared only with the messaging providers required to transmit them.
